Hey all,

The moonroof on my '99 323i is messed up. A couple weeks ago I slid the actual window portion all the way back in to the roof to completely open it. When it was retracting, it grabbed the carpet-covered slide that blocks the view from the moonroof if you pull it towards the rear-view mirror (don't know what the technical term is for it). It pulled two rubber stoppers out and now I have to pull it back out with needle-nosed pliers to get it. Super annoying.

I'm pretty sure it'll have to go in for work, wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem.

Thanks much.

That's called the "sunroof shade" and it has cheapo plastic
clips to hold it on the track.

Mine broke 3 times already (it was only opened about 10 times,
no exaggeration) with absolutely zero abuse or rough handling.

So far, I leave the sunroof shade in the 'half open' position to
prevent any heat build up from sunlight collecting above the shade.
Perhaps heat makes the plastic clips brittle, I don't know, I'm trying
anything at this point.

Out of warranty, you're probably looking at a $125 dealer hit.
