Well, from the time that I ordered mine, it took 2 months. Other people might have different stories but in either case you still have a while.

Congrats on the new car though!

You will probably save a few days due to a NJ POE but 6 weeks to 2 months is likely if the car is built in Germany and not S Africa which also produces 325s.

It really depends entirely upon the build date ... and the build date depends entirely upon the allocation given to your dealer. If your build date is next week, you could (on the east coast) have it in as little as 4-5 weeks. If your build date is 3 months from now, you won't have it for about 4 months. Whatever your build date is, add 3-5 weeks for east coast delivery.

Thanks for your experiences. The salesman indicated to me it was for an "April Production" So with any luck I should have by mid May

Thank God - East Coast delivery - Upstate NY

If the build date is at the beginning of April (say first two weeks), you should have it by mid-May. Otherwise, that might be pushing it a bit.

Hey jcrosi,

Congrats! I ordered my first BMW too this year, a 325i. I signed the PO on 1/17, but it scheduled for production until 2/24. Now its on a boat that's supposed to dock in NJ 3/14, this Sunday. I'm hoping it'll get to the dealer before next weekend.

I was fortunate in that the dealer was able to locate a car exactly as I wanted that was already built and in transit. I ordered it on Jan 2 when the ship was already entering LA Harbor. The build date was Nov 22. Shipboard time for a west coast deliver is about 23 days since it does not utilize the Panama Canal. It had to be redirected from a CA dealer (my NV dealer traded an X5 that he was to get). Pre sold cars are off loaded first followed dealer allocations that had not been sold prior to loading on the ship. It arrived at my NV dealership on Jan 12. I drove off in my 2004 330i w/ZHP on Jan 13. Did you ask your dealer to see if there was one to your specs that was enroute to another dealer that was not yet sold?

Yep, he did a search but nothing matched the specs I wanted. At first this wait time was disconcerning now I realize it all part of the process and actually adds to the mystic of a BMW.

Thanks for your reply

I ordered mine on 1/22/04. It went into production on 2/9 and completed production 5 days later. Loaded onto the ship FREEDOM and headed toward Charleston on 2/20. Ship arrived in port 2 days early on 3/2. Salesman told me last week that I might have it by 3/15. It is still showing on the OC site as being at the VPC.
