Hello, I am new to the board. I just purchased a new (2004) 325i (black w/ black) for $27,435 plus tax and lic. Mrsp was $31,120. This car had minimal options (Auto and Moonroof only).

I also received BMW financing 2.9% with 0 down. So my payments are $533 per month for 5 yrs.

How did I do as for as the purchase price?

Thanks. Will do. Now I am looking to buy floormats and possibly bra for the car.
I was surprised to find out (after I purchased it) that it didnt even come with floor mats. awell.

Dealer claimed that they sold the car to me at $1500 below invoice. Who knows.

Floor mats aren't even standard on $55K M3s, believe it or not.
My opinion on your deal is that it depends on how long you keep your car. If you keep it for four or more years, you made a great deal. If you have to sell it for some reason in about a year, the deprecation will kill you. Since '05 BMWs are already arriving at showrooms, you have a year old car. That's the reason you got such a great deal.

The car you bought is basically bulletproff, so unless you get tired of it, you should have many years of trouble free driving.

Thanks. I plan to keep it for at least 4 to 5 years. I was surprised to find out that this bmw drives very similiar to my old bmw (90 525i). I thought newer beemers would be little more refined.

I am used to my 04 honda accord and it seems like (maybe im wrong) my Accord was more comfortable on the road and handles as good as my new bmw. I am still very happy and i hope i get used to the "stiff" feeling of these german cars.

Congrats on the purchase, I think you did great on the deal.

You did not get the Sport Package, so you are not really experiencing the best of the 3-Series' handling abilities but I think that at higher speeds, the handling of the BMW will really shine, in comparison to your 04 Accord. Also, the reason why your new BMW doesn't feel as refined as you were expecting (compared to your old 525i) is because your 5-Series is more focused on the luxury aspect of driving, whereas the 325i will be a better performer, as it feels tighter, lighter, and more solid.

If you can, show us some pictures of your new car, we'd love to see it. [:D]

Thank you for all your input.

I think you are right, my 525i was more of a cruiser and it felt very heavy. However, my e46 doesnt feel much lighter. Steering and suspension feels very similiar to my 90 525i. I was suprised on how similiar these cars were although they are 14 years apart.

As for the 04 accord LX (4 cynlinder). It feels alot lighter, its more roomier, and feels little more relaxed on the highway speed. Maybe I just need to get used to my bmw.
I guess I am more into comfort over performance since I do alot of long distance driving.

But I still love my new e46. This is the most I have ever spent on a car and it was worth it.
Excellent workmanship and build quality.

As for the new Accords, 18k to 20k will buy you a loaded (no sunroof or leather however) automatic sedan that is worth every penny. Alot of car for the price. I think.

I agree. Hondas and Toyotas are the tops in quality. BMW models offer more excitement, but as you point out they cost a lot more than their Japanese competition.

You can say that again. Mine didn't come with floor mats, because the dealership lost about $2500 in the deal. Hmmm

Congrats on the new BMW. I too have owned many Honda's (still do) and love(d) them, but you will find the E46's to be very very nice cars. You will enjoy every aspect of this car in time. Post pics as soon as you can, and welcome to the board....

you got a great deal if you love your car and drive it accordingly, no matter the price, as long as you can afford it.

my car payment is on the high side, but everytime i take her out, i'm all smiles, and is still the best car i've ever driven. so it's all worth it for me.

congrats on the purchase, and welcome to the board. it's gonna be hard to go back to the front driving hondas.. as nice as they may have been.

Pacific is in SoCal, Circle is in New Jersey. The reason I suggested those is cuz they have the cheapest parts dealerwise. If you like going in and picking up the items yourself and paying full price, then any dealer near you will do.
