My sons red-lined our 330i at 6000 rpm, and the engine began shaking. They drove for 15 minutes, parked the car and shut off the engine. Moments later, they re-started the car and it ran just fine. Can anyone explain this? Should I expect more shaking at some future time?

Without actually being there, I am guessing that everything is OK. The fuel is restricted by the computer at redline to keep it from over-revving. So if the shaking you experienced was "vroom vroom vroom" rapidly 4-5 times a second and very rhythmic this is normal.

If it was violently shaking this is not normal!!

Do not let your sons drive your car anymore... That should do it! It is called red line for a reason...!

What do you need, Purple line?

Whoao! I feel like I had a brainstorm... He, He, He!!!
