Radio Display...

It's just my luck, but my warranty ran out November 10, 2003 and my radio display went out. Does anyone know how much something like that would cost to fix? It's just the display above my temperature gauge. It works, but I can't see a freakin thing. I heard they may have to ship it out for repair and I was wondering if a fuse might of ran out or if you could do it yourself.

Has anyone had this problem before? I'm basically looking for a ball park figure and how long something like that would take. It must have a seperate power source since nothing else is phased. Please advise anyone. Thanks!

there are bulbs that light the display. I've replaced all mine myself, very easy job but
i'm unsure as to how u'd do in on a E46. it is a simple fix though, i'd ask an experienced
e46er =]

I am pretty sure you have a dot matrix display and not one lit by bulbs. You may be SOL and need a new display which may equate to a new (or reconditioned) radio head unit. Maybe you should go for a better aftermarket one cause BMW would probably ask for your left arm as payment.

This doesn't answer your questions at all however.[?|] [unsure]

Even if it is a dot matrix display, chances are it has a backlight. If you can look at the display at an angle, and it still works, then it's probably just a burntout backlight bulb.

Interesting...thanks guys.

I do have a nice Alpine head unit which was top of the line two years ago. It's pretty awesome and I would love to install it. However, I heard it's tricky putting a system in a BMW due to intricate electrical system. Fact or Fiction?

I also have two 10s I would like to put in there from an older car I had, but all the speakers inside my car runs on 2ohms while the standard in the US is 4ohms. Does anyone know about speakers well enough to get me straightened out? I appreciate it!
