re: E46 325 engine couldn't start

Hi members

anybody can help me out here. recently i bought a second car to move around during weekdays for my work considering I am in the sales line, wouldn't want to drive my car around being my BMW 325i E46..

anyway having said that, having not used my beamer for 5 days straight i.e didn't even start the car, on the 6th day being on the sat, when i started the car, the engine sort of died. meaning to say it didn't want to start. it's like an old bomb. anyway after giving the accelarator a few pump, the engine started,, however at this point still sound very dead.... after the 4th attempt, the engine to begin to start properlyy... and having to warm it up for a fair well..

is this normal? has anybody here experience the car not starting for 5 days...

any idea?

Well, this is just a possiblility, not a sure thing answer. It sounds like it wasn't getting enough fuel on startup. After you tried several times, it ran fine, getting enough fuel.

There is a check valve in the fuel pump that prevents gas from siphoning back into the tank to avoid this exact problem. It almost sounds like the fuel line drained empty (check valve leaked), and it took several restarts to charge the line. But usually this problem occurs after a number of years, not on a 4 year old car....

HI Kirby

yeah i think so to.. there wasn't enough fuel going into the engine.. now it's working fine with full load of fuel on board..

yeah it shouldn't have this sort of problem.. considering it's a 4 year old car..

thanks anyway...
