Okay the 325I has a red line that starts at 6000 rpm. But from 6000 to 7000 the red line its not solid until you hit 7000 rpm. Someone correct me but max power of 187 hp is reached at @ 6500 rpm. If so how far can i push my stock engine with out fear of damage. thanks

Keep fresh and proper weight oil in the engine and you can drive it hard all day with no problems, other than opec getting richer! In fact, unless something has changed - every BMW motor I have seen has insane carbon builup from people who rarely drive the car hard. That's not good for the motor.

I've pushed all 3 of my cars all the time... my e30 had 182k miles on it and LOVED to be revved.... the motor in my M3 is even better. BMW built motors to do what they should be able to do.

The 325i achieves its maximum HP of 184 at 6000rpm. It just lets you rev it to 6500rpm for fun, I have noticed in 2nd gear you can get the car to rev to 6600rpm in both the 325i and 330i (e46). So long as the engines properly warmed up and the oils good, you shouldn't have any issues except soon-to-be-bald rear tires? [hihi]

i accidently over revved my beemer twice in a week i thought it was in second but it was in 1st. nothing bad should happen right? what happened was that it redlined then like studdered and made a studering vibration type noise but im just describing it to you im 99% sure that nothing bad happened to the car.
off topic: i think my car needs new valve springs cause theres a semi-loud(noticeable), deep type sound like you can hear the valves popping, or im just going crazy!

Why were you overrevving it?
