In a letter to the NHTSA, a BMW owner states that their replacement tranny has a "notchy" throttle. Would that person be able to describe exactly what they mean? Trying to figure out if this is the same behavior that I am experiencing. Thanks.

notchy? Could he mean it doesn't shift smoothly and makes clicks or cracks when shifting into P? or d and r thats what I'm experiencing. not to mention a "whine from the tranny (reminiscent of a NYC subway car accelerating more of a wmmmmmmmmmmmmm) don't know how to describe it but it exists when accelerating and letting the speed bleed off.

And my phone calls to BMWNA prove useless, all they have to offer is " sir the new unit has been fixed to solve the problem" as if thats the only POSSIBLE problem a transmission can exhibit.
