Return of the Slasher.

Hey guys i have a small problem. the radiator fan sometimes nudges the waterpump pipe and literally slashes it open. 4litres of coolant over the floor and alot of cursing then follow. this happened once and i replace the hose and checked the other day and its starting to cut through again. i rigged up a strap to pull the hose away but its not ideal. has anyone else experianced this? or have any suggestions on how to fix it. New pipes just £15 from BMW and ATM my way around it is to carry 4L of water a little coolent and a spare pipe.

This just upped and started happening all at once¿ The only thing that I could think of is that the fan could be to wide. Other than that, I can't be of much help.

Or you could have the tube installed wrong. Like can you turn it in another direction? but I think junglestylz is right you might have too big of a fan on.

cheers guys but the thing was fine for 1 year then all of a sudden it ate one up and has started on the new one. All i can think of is to tie it back and cover the pipe to protect it!

I may have a solution for you. the fan did the same thing to me!!!!!!!!!!!!! What I did was to cover the hose in distress with a steel brade covering. To some it looks cheesy to some it looks cool, either wasy the fan is no longer Slashing said hose.

hehe i had the same problem. i just put on a new hose and zip tied it to the hoist hook up to hold it away from the fan. never had any problems since then.
