Revised configuration climate-control panel

Anyone know how the climate-control panel has changed ? It is listed as a change for year 2004 changes. A picture or description would be great as I've seen many people complain about BMW's climate control system. Hopefully BMW listened to people's complaints/suggestions and incorporated something that works better.

New 2004 3-series incorporate Automatic climate control and a microfilter ventilation system. Not exactly sure if the microfilter is new, but they are saying that they have a new climate control panel.

Controls from left to right:
- individual air distribution
- temperature (sensor below buttons)
- automatic air distribution and supply
- outside/recirculated air
- air supply/blower (sensor below buttons)
- defroster/air conditioning/rear window defroster

The display for temperature and air supply is in the center.

Its exactly the same in my '02, '03, & '04.

It's different from my 03. The heat/cold buttons and fan air speed buttons are more logically placed. I like the vertical positioning rather than the horizontal on mine.

nah. I made a mistake. They are similar. My panel in my 01 looks like yours Codex. I suppose there has been a change for whatever reason.

I don't have my manual with me. What is that 2 circle with an "A" on the left circle button? It's the one on the right side of the Auto button.

Press the button repeatedly to select one of three modes:

Indicator lamps off - outside airflow is on
Left-hand indicator light - outside air flow blocked automatically when outside pollutants detected and air inside vehicle recirculated
Right-side indicator on - outside air flow blocked permanently and air inside vehicle recirculated

My '03 330i with Performance Package has that same unit as the '04. How come some 03's have the updated one and others have the old one? Or was the PP just updated?

could have been a change in the middle of the yr....eg '03 and 03.5.
