So my car is parked in a nice secure underground carpark, I go to drive her to work the next morning and BAM shes not there. [paranoid]

48 hours later and the police are on the phone to me telling me that theyve located my little runaway but shes had her back shield smashed in and the tyres slashed. So as you can imagine right now im a giant ball of rage, i swear if i find the people that did this im gonna beat the living tar outta them and then some

On a side note anyone got any good ideas for a nice alarm system?

This is my baby before http://www.webone.com.au/~buffysmg/car/car.htm

Sorry to hear Stevie, I have a Clifford alarm and Im very satisfied with it so far. You can add option paging system that notifies you if the alarm goes off.

the best alarm iv'e come accross so far is the one fitted to the E34 M5 there are loads of brands out there that do the same thing. it has no shock sensor so that you don't get the ricerish alarm going off when a leaf falls on my car thing. every door handle and the fuel filler cap has sensors on them so that if you try and open the door trunk or if the bastard tried to pee in the fuel he'd set off the alarm. (also closes all windows doors etc and dead locks them on press of the key fob) to be honest though if the thief is persistant or good any alarm is useless. you could of course fit battery and fuel cut-off switches so when he jumps in it wont even turn over [:D]

The best thing to do is get a good quality alarm and an even better installer. Mine is hidden way up in the dash so it will take some time to remove. I also hooked it to the light relay and the car horn so not only does my horn honk but the lights flash, and i have it set on a 4:30 cycle with 6 cycles before swinger shutdown. That means its gonne be annoying for a while.

I installed 5 zones; 2 doors, trunk, and shock sensor (not every sensitive, hit my door and you get 4 warning honks), and an all important glassbreak sensor in the vent for the non-existent auto climate control. I hooked it to the double-lock control so the only way in the car is basically through the glass. Also hooked it to the main relay as fuel cutoff.

On a ICE modified show vehicle I also installed a 20 watt piezo siren designed for commercial securty purposes in the dash; physically painful after about 20 seconds of hearing it.

This doesnt mean they wont attempt to take it, or even that they wont be sucessful. It will however make them think that taking the $55,000 Merc next you might be more worth the trouble.

My logic says that if they are physicly able to smash the window, hotwire my car, and be able to drive it up the hill, turn around (i live in a cul-de-sac) and escape out of my estate BEFORE i make it down one flight of stairs on re-heat, with a golf club in my hand and my killing eyes in my head they can keep the damn car.[:D] [:D] [:D]

Could have been worse, theres no panel damage or anything just jacked my stereo and speakers and smashed a window. Fingers crossed i can get some other minor things that have happened through on insurance :)
