rpm rev limiter kicks in @ 4 til car warms

I just bought a 95 318is and am noticing that the rpm rev limiter won't let the rpm's exceed 4 grand until after I drive the car for about 4 or 5 minutes. I'm pretty sure this is not normal. But it appears that the car runs excellent after it warms up. It also only does it the first time I drive the car each day. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bryan

Hello...!!

Why would you want to push a cold engine...?????????????????????/

Let it warm up correctly. Never experienced that because I never let the RPM over 3K while cold...!!!

Anyone else?

well i agree with you on that but when i say it wont go over 4 it actually is about 3.5 and I don't see how you couldn't manage to go over 3 cause im finding that i would have to shift to the next gear just as fast as i get to the previous one. I'm not trying to keep it up high but it won't let it even approach 3.8 for a split second. But on the other hand it is a problem I could live with cuz I love the car I just was wondering if it was a normal problem. Thanks
