So glade everyone still here, great site.I have a 2000 328 ci .I ran over curb and busted out front mud flap and fenderwell. After picking up my fenderwell of the side or road i find out there was a sensor in there.Any one know what that sensor was for and do i need to replace, thanks for the help
The sensor I think you're speaking of is the Exterior Temperature Sensor.
Costs about $50 or $60 CAN, Hopefully you didn't rip the connector off of the wires, although it isn't too hard to re-wire.
I just thought of something else... it might also be a heated washer fluid sensor...or something like that...
On some models there is one sensor on each side. One for Ext. Temp. and the other for (I think) headlamp washer heated nozzle. The temp sensor is pointy, and the other one is round.
You'll prolly also need to replace the splash shield too.
