I got my oil change on time using the Castrol 5W30 however at the time the service interval was not re-set accordingly.

I try doing it withe ignition in position 1 and pushing the left odometer button until the t e s t came up but it did not work.

It is now at -700 miles to Service while in reality it should be 700 miles....
If someone can let me know how to do it step by step or maybe guide me on the phone [burnout]

Today on my way back home the "service engine soon" came on altough the car is driving beautifully.
Could it be to the service interval reaching -700 miles.....
What else could it be?

It is a hectic week for me and I really do not have the time to service it before the weekend or even getting ripped at the dealership.
They are going to get with a list of to do's as usual......

Appreciate your help and feedbac.

Ok was able to re-set the mileage service but at 15,000 miles gotta remembet to change the oil at 5,000 miles.

Now the "Service Engine Soon" i still on.
When I turn on the car the EML appear in position 1 for a second then disappear.

Any idea what this Service Engine Soon means?
Should I take it to the dealership?

Thanks

Uh, take it to your local auto parts store and get the codes read. They'll do it for free. Have them reset the light too. See if anything comes back and if it does its at least one of the codes.

John

By local auto parts do you mean Pepboys for example?

What could be wrong with codes like an electronic code issue....

Thanks

The SES light means that the ECU has detected a problem. It could be ANYTHING - a random misfire, bad coil, bad O2 sensor, bad gas, air/fuel mixture, etc. etc. etc. You can't guess or speculate at what it might be. Once you get the codes read, we can go somewhere.

The diagnostic port on all cars sold in the US from 1996 on have an OBDII port. Any auto parts store should have a code reader that will work. For example. My dad's CE light was on his Porsche 996. I took it to checker autoparts and pulled the code in the parking lot and reset the light.

Just an Update on what happened to my "Check Engine Soon"
Actually the auto parts around here "Advanced Auto Parts" have only and "Service Engine Soon Reader"....

Anyhow took it to the dealership as it still has its 100,000 miles warranty and the problem ended up being : the Air Flow Meter which had to be changed.
Is it normal ast 66,000 miles?

It took them 2 full days to troublshoot that which I found to be inefficient knowing that the code can be detected pretty fast.

The engine was running on a heavy gas mixture as the amount of air was not coorect.
It is much smoother now and fuel economy back to normal.
