Tinting question

Hey guys! I wanted to know if anyone on this forum knew a reliable place in or near San Francisco where I can get my windows tinted.... I had a great tint on my old 3 series- but now in SF and wanted to know if someone can come highly recommended. Let me know when you guys have a chance!

Thanks a million!

If you want Huper Optik, then Automall Tint. Think it's in South Bay tho. Most of the better places are. Kartoyz is another option if you don't want Huper.

Most important thing is to ask if they can handle dot matrix on Bimmers. If they don't know what you're talking about, hang up immediately. Good installers can tint over the dot matrix without any real problems. So-so shops use all sorts of workarounds like sanding the dots down, putting a strip of black vinyl over them, etc. Only use those so-so shops if you can't find a good installer for a price you're willing to pay. How good of a tint job you want is up to you.

What is this thing about 'dot matix'? I am thinking of using V-Kool or Huper Optik. 318 4-door. Our climate here (Singapore) is whole year hot at 32-34 degree F.

Lot at any of your windows. At the edges, you'll see a series of dots. There's just a thin strip around most windows, but the back window has a lot. Coupes are especially bad apparently. Bad installers have difficulty applying tint over those dots cuz they can't get it to stick properly which creates bubbles.

V-Kool lets you have a lighter shade of tint with the same heat rejection as a darker Huper. But, it's metallic so it'll look shimmery and may affect radio/cell phone/radar detector reception. Huper has a ceramic based one that won't affect reception. Plus, it comes in darker shades if you want privacy. It doesn't go that dark cuz too dark will limit visibility and Huper doesn't need to to go that dark to block out more heat.
