Is there any fairly easy way to get rid of shifter slop? It's really starting to irritate me, because I just purchased a new vinyl shift boot, but it is already crushed when I shift into reverse. So any input?
Short shift kit, one that includes the linkage. Might was well because the only way to solve it is to replace the worn bushings, and as long as you are under there....
You should definately replace the bushings while you have the shifter out. You can also bend the linkage bar with 3 sockets and a bench vise but if you get it at all wrong in will cause binding in the linkage if not completely destroy it so I wouldn't recomend it.
