I know this is probably a stupid question, but how do you get the car to make "beep" or some other noise when locking it with the keyring controller? I can't seem to find if the 330i has this capability. I have a 2003 330i.

Thanks for any help!

Beep is not possible without the alarm system; however, visual confirmation is possible and can be done at the dealership.

it is the alarm

I have the same car 2003, 330i.
I was at the dealer 2 weeks ago and asked the same thing.
I was told that the car does nto come with the alarm, it is like a $500 extra.
Even though I have the Red light under my rear view mirror, the car does not have the alarm.
Without the extra alarm option the red light does not flash, and there is no audible sound when lockig the car.

This seams odd to me, why would BMW put a non function red light under the mirror?
Anyhow that is what I was told.

Possibly someone else can confirm who knows for sure.

thanks

Thanks for the info. I was curious as to what that massive red light under the rear view mirrow was. Everyone always asks me because it is such an eyesore. Oh well, I guess that I'll have to get the alarm system if I really want that.

I DONT have the alarm But had the dealer program the lights to flash when locking and unlocking the doors. Also The clown nose(red light) flashes as if I have an alarm while the car is locked up.

The clown nose light under the mirror can be activated via program by the dealer. You do not need the alarm for the light to blink and indicate you have an "alarm" even if you do not. My son's 2003 330ci and my 2004 330i both were programmed at no charge by the dealer prior to delivery to operate as if they had the alarm even though neither has the alarm. An audible indication I believe requires the alarm.

Don't let the dealership talk you into a 500-700 dollar alarm install, you can buy them easily for 250-300 (The real OEM BMW alarm) off of Ebay, or a host of other parts places (circlebmw.com comes to mind). The install is about 45 minutes to an hour, and isn't very difficult. All you need to do then is take it to BMW to be activated, which might run you 20-50 bucks or whatnot. Save yourself a few hundred dollars..

Then get the bells and whistle turned on. [:)]
