I have a 01 330i that I would like to add a few tweeks to. Can anyone recommend some easy ones that could boost the speed, as well as a few not so easy ones to get some better performance out of the beast.

you can get a chip , exhaust , and cold air intake. $1500 - 2000. Should give you at least 20 more horsepower. A simple tweek is to change your stock air filter to a K&N replacement..$40 ..I have a chip and exhaust from Dinan for my 318is and I love it . click here for some Dinan products www.dinancars.com Next I'm going to change to a high quality synthetic gear oil for my tranny and rear-end ..good luck chemz71

Take some driving classes. Then (if you can) go to one of BMW's driving schools.

I'm serious. This will be the best driving enhancement you can do.

After that, you can start to buy parts. johnnyz hit on it pretty much.

Easy HP is a CAI (Cold Air Intake), along with some sort of software upgrade (I prefer Shark Injectors, they are the simplest and let you revert to your old CPU for those times when you need to take it to the dealer..). After that, theres plenty of other options. Exhaust, which mostly changes the sound, but some do offer HP gains(Plenty of good cat-back ones out there, Remus comes to mind, Dinan is nice). You can get a underdrive pulley set, which will change out 2 of your 5 pullies, this is easy and gains you a few hp. If you have Manual, a SSK(short shift kit) + a clutch stop and lessons on how to really use these can gain you time on the track and road as well.

One of the more underlooked ways to get more performance, is to get a better diff ratio put in your car. (This is actually high on my list, hopefully before the end of the year). You can squeeze a couple of 10th's from this one alone. I'm going from a 3.07 to a 3.38 or 3.46, most likely the 3.38 since I hit alot of traffic around here..

You can always go FI (Forced Injection).. Just slap that Supercharger in and get ready to zoom. But get ready for money to zoom outta your pocket too (They range from 5k-8k, not counting installation).

If you are really going to think about adding hp gain modifications, I honestly suggest you beef up your suspension first, and take those classes. You can get alot more out of your car as it is now just by kicking your suspension up a notch. Theres alot of ways to go here as well: PSS9's (the ultimate for street and track, short of GT class parts), a good shock/spring combo, a cup kit, or even just tuned springs for an easy 'drop'.

Wheels (big and wide) are the cherry on top, or the appetizer, depends on your point of view. [:)]

So anyway, you said hp gains??

Oh yah. take a class, you will benefit from that more than any mod.

Then go buy stuff like a madman! [hihi]
