Sirius Antenna install

I had my Sirius antenna installed by a BMW tech directly under the rear decklid within the trunk so it's magnetized onto the inside frame of the rear decklid.

I do not want the antenna outside as I have heard it will scratch the trunk quite badly.

Major problem: Reception is downright lousy and cuts out under the tree canopy over the roadways. This can't be acceptable, because if it is, Sirius would not be in business.

I need advise on where to put the antenna inside so it will work and receive the signal as it should.

Thanks for the response.

Try mounting the antenna in the rear deck(the area between the rear seats and the rear window). The glass should have much less shielding effect on the satellite signal. But the signal still will not be as good as it was mounted on the top of the trunk.

What about using some kind of adhesive to stick it directly on the backglass (on the outside) rather than on the painted decklid?
Yes, you can do that. But just need to be aware that it would require strong adhesive/glue to bond to the rear glass. It could be a real mess if one wish to remove it someday.
