You know how the salesfolks at BMW are searching for "5's" during the post-purchase survey? Well, mine got a 1. I told him I required Sirius, as I'd had it on my 2002 E46 and wanted to transfer the acct. I made the mistake of trusting him - he told me I could arrange with service (after the deal was made, of course) to have Sirius added to the Prem Sound system. Big mistake- the car, per BMW, "requires" the Factory Pre-wiring to add the Satellite radio - you've got to be kidding, BMW? So, a few days later, when I attempted to have Service at Shelly BMW install the Sirius system, I was told it was totally not possible and to essentially forget it unless I was willing to have an after-market unit added (!). Question 1: What is the sharkfin for if not satellite radio? Question 2: Can Sirius (via aftermarket or not) be added to the Prem Sound system on a 2006 325i so it can be tuned via that unit? I seriously doubt BMW would use two different head units (one satellite-capable; the other not)? Your replies are welcome.
OH - postscript - my salesperson got a 1 - and deservedly so. When I called the service mgr to complain about this, he never returned my call - so it seems they don't have much of a service mentality (like they used to, anyway!) when it comes to satellite radio installations.
