First....I know this topic has been beat to death, so I apologize to any who are annoyed by this posting :)

For 2 weeks now when I pull my 04 330cic out of the garage and put it into D, there is a 1-2 second delay before the car will move. The engine revs while I depress the accelerator, but the car does not move....it then gently and smoothly engages 1st gear and I am off. This ONLY happens on the first start up in the morning, and it is almost always above 60F.

I called BMWNA this morning, and they confirmed the "Sliptronic" problem. My transmission is German, and according to the Rep at BMW, they have no reports of any German trannies being affected, and they told me my problem does not follow the pattern of slippage on the affected GM/French trannies.

Does this 1-2 second delay occur to anyone else with an '04 3er? As long as the problem does not progress, I hate to take it in for such a "minor" problem. 1 second or so is not much to wait. Besides from the first drive, the transmission is amazing.

Will the slippage time increase? Does the transmission worsen, or will my 1-2 second time stay the same? Thanks in advance to anyone who has advice. Danke. Freude am Fahren.....I think!!!

It does not sound like the sliptronic issue... rather it sounds like the normal effects of a transmission thats just building up hydraulic pressure.

It's quite normal for automatic transmissions to not move much for the first few 2 or 3 seconds of gas. I wouldn't worry about it!!

I would not accept the judgement of a BMW rep on the phone. I recommend that you take it in. It sounds to me EXACTLY like the problem on the GM trannies ... to a tee. Some people have it for 1 or 2 secs ... some for 15-30 secs. Doesn't it make sense to have the dealer test if after being left overnight? That way, if you need the tranny replaced, you get it done right away. And yes ... from what I've been told, it could get worse.

You should have "0" delay. Period. Take it in. It is not a big deal for BMW to do it. They just switch the tranny from the rebuilt. I have my switch now for a month and it is flawless.
