Some retard scratched the plastic part of my rear bumper, from the rear wheel well area all the way to the corner, thick and deep, I don't think a touch up job would do. Can anyone recommend a reputable body shop in Boston / Brookline area to replace the plastic part (the part below the black stripe) of the rear bumper? Can the plastic part be replaced separate from the rest of the bumper? has anyone done this and know how much it should cost? Should I just go to the dealer? Any recommendation is much appreciated.

im frm australia and the thing is, any body shop, pretty much any one with a solid reputation in you local area can do the job with a good finish.

even if u did go to the dealer, and bear in mind, im in australia and therefore things might be different where yr frm...

i got a little booklet in my car service package..the little leather thing they stuff in yr glovebox with all relevant documents, a little folder saying BMW exceelent car care or seomthing ..recommended panel shops.

so ive heard even if u send it to your dealer, in aus, they send it to they're recommended panel shop...and it might be the same there so maybe theres a fee involved for em to send it and if u haf that same little leaflet i have, it tells you the panel shops so if u send it yrself, you might save some there and if not, then any panel shop, a reputable one for good colour matching if you haf to respray the whole bumper would be good...

:)
hope it was of some help

I dont think theres any reason to replace the bumpers, they will just fill it in with a plaster type of product (or something like that) and then repaint it. Should be fine.

Just curious, how much would a new bumper cost including labor if you were to replace it?

I had a local body shop quote me on the cost of repainting the front bumper since I have a few rock chips. The cost was from $500-700 for paint and labor. To do it right, they will have to pull off the bumper and re-paint it.
