most BMW dealers do not paint themselves... but rather have other contract companies to it for them. you can try DIY.. but most often than not it will look even more ugly. I would go to a good body shop.

I'm sorry to hear that. It happended to me too last friday at work and we have a garage parking, some ass got jealous or something and messed with my car Brand new 330CI Alpine White. 9" long on my passanger side door pretty deep. I got estimate at BMW dealership they want $675 to fix it, they said they have to paint the whole side. I was like my car is only been 2 months old. I was WTF..damn..then my manager know this guy work for Huffine Dealership (american car) bodyshop. He will do it for $140. He said you can't even tell when it's done. Will match perfectly cause they got all the equipment and paint match machine in the shop already. They are using PPG paint, So I will let him do it for $140 since it's dealership equipment and this guy seem pretty cool and know what he talking about.

Hopefull turn out good for me. Hopefully you can fixt it cheaper at dealership though.

if it were a diffrence of like 100 i wold say go for the bmw dealer but its like 3x te price so go with your friend.

he is obviously good enough if he works for a dealership.
whether its a bmw or a ford when a customer brings his car in to the dealer for a paint job he expects a perfect job.

what a re dealershipd for???

He work for bodyshot at Huffine Dealership..he only charge me labor fee.

the way he will fix it instead of repaint the whole door. He will sand down that area where the scratch and fix it that way. I ask him it's going to match perfect he said yes should have no problem matching at all, cause they mix they own paint at Huffineshop dealership bodyshop. He said all word done is life time warranty at the shop. They are using PPG paint.

dumayou, do you plan on keeping this car for a long time or sell/trade it within a few years? If its a keeper then do it right, you don't want to redo this a few years down the line when the cheap paint starts to peel off or fade. Plus if you go through the dealer, you can easily argue it when it comes to warranty disputes.

HI,

I have a 6 month old 330ci Jet Black.
I went to a friends birthday party recently and when I came back to my car at the end of the evening, someone had left a nice deep dent and scrape on the drivers side door.

I assume that you live in New York. My friend (for about 17 years) Bob Durso owns one of the finest Body Shops in the state. It is on the Lynbrook/Valley Stream border and it's called Bob's Auto Body. 516-593-2689. You can check out his web site if you like: www.bobsautobody.com.

He did a great job on my door, and I had it back within the week. He has a spray booth, so the paint can be applied under factory like conditions. If you talk to Bob, tell him I sent you : )
Good luck.

Joseph A. Cacace
