Son of A B*TCH

Lots of wind and rain on the east coast; Mud all over my hood. Not a problem right, just rinse it off, wrong. I have tw0 or three scratches in my hood. My car is Imola Red and the sratches are white. What do i DO? Will wax fix it? Clay BAR. These are not swirls, the wind pushed mud back my hood and the scratches are fairly deep. PLEASE HELP. WHAT SHOULD I DO???????? 2 - 3 scratches not very wide but long and slim. HELP.. im so distressed. [?|] [mad]

Not that this will help much...

Durnig my first wax I did a poor job and placed 2 preaty large scratches on my hood. 2 waxes/8 months later it became much less visible. And on Jet Black the scratches are white... so it is even worse. I guess with time and layers of wax they loose their contrast and kinda fill up with other crap so they are not as visible. Before it was always on my mind... now I can barely notice it. Life is good [thumb]

The worse thing you can do is use touchpaint/spray paint. It just makes it look very ugly for what it is.

chances are that when you see the white, you are already down to the primer. wax will help nothing as it does not carry color particles, unless you buy colored wax of course. with a very sure and calm hand you can try to paint them away, though it really mostly looks somehow ugly, like a scar. try polishing it anyway, you never know.

Just do one thing: DO NOT use touch-up paint. The scratch is on the hood and it will be visible and VERY noticable & ugly. Trust me, in couple of months you will forget about the scratches and everything will be fine. [:I]

Do the non-metallic paints on e46's have a clear coat or not? I have seen some comments that say it does have clear coat and others that say no.

If the red, black white, etc. have a clear coat, maybe the scratch is only in the clear coat and the white is the way the light is hitting it. It's hard to believe that weather and mud only went down to primer.

How did you get an Imola Red 323i? I though Imola was only on the M3 and ZHP.
