My car has 61,000 miles and was wondering if it is advisable to change the plugs at this time, if so what type, are the oem Bosch platinum+4's? I change all my own filters and oil so I don't feel I need the dealers 60,000 mi. svc.

Thanks

I have an older 325i, with an M-50 engine..Plat plus 4's did not work at all. Kept them in for three days, and put champion copper-tops in...everything was fine after that. I'm not sure if they are right for your '03..obviously a different ignition, etc..good luck.

yeah, stay away from that expensive stuff. the gain, if there is any, will be that small and barely noticeable that it is not worth the money. and bottom line is, that engines are designed to run best with stock parts.

to all flamers:
yes, if you modify intake, intake manifold, coils, ECU, exhaust system and the stickers on your front fenders, the high end plugs might make sense [hihi]

my tech said that with the next inspection at 60k the plugs will be changed. 100k seems a little late then, doesn´t it?
The plugs on my E46 are 100k. I replaced them myself around 90,000. Some don't believe in these new extended 100,000 mile plugs. It can't hurt to replace them sooner...maybe you'd see a slight increase in performance, especially if they have gotten dirty from a poorly running engine. I have to say though, when I popped out my old ones, it was hard to tell the old from the new...they were that clean.
