sport mode harsh shift

hey everyone. my three month old 04 330i...got a question. the other day at a full stop i put my car in sport mode and stomped on the gas and watched the rpms shoot up to 5000 and it shifted...there was a bit of a kick in that shift, made my head snap back a bit. i've lauched like this before and didn't notice it ever do that until i tried it again yesterday and the same thing happened twice. i noticed that when i don't stomp on the gas too hard there is no kick. anyway, i was just wondering if that kick was normal? your thoughts?

I'd say that's normal. At full throttle, the drivetrain gear ratios are changing more quickly with less smoothness.

If I remember right, my sales rep told me that the car will shift at higher RPM and only up to the fourth gear in sports mode. Is this true?

Yes, that's true. I believe that's also covered in your introduction CD.
