Ok so I had my lock cylnder removed by some thief several months ago.

Ordered the part from BMW which was 70 bucks.

and they want to charge 110 to install it.

However my alarm has been going off like crazy. I think its because of the motion sensor inside the cabin toward the middle on the ceiling. THis part has fell off and I could have sworn I read that it was the motion sensor. The dealer is saying this is the light sensor and needs to be replaced.

He is claiming the alarm sensitivity has to do with the broken key cylnder and says there is some motor part that will cost like 500 bucks.

He is also saying my fender needs to be replaced. Its true I did damage it somewhat cause I ran over a curb, but it still looks good. Except for the broken temperature sensor....

What do you all think?

The lock cylinder part sounds reasonable, those can get very expensive. I don't see how the alarm sensitivity can be affected by a broken lock though, but hey, I don't work at a dealership so I can't really argue for or against the claims. Everything else I can't really advise on as I do not own an e46 or have any experience with them.

Light sensor? What light sensor? Inside the ceiling box goes one thing.....the motion sensor for the alarm. It may be an infrared sensor, much like the kind you would find in a corner of your house for your home alarm. Maybe that's what they mean since infrared is a range of wavelength of light?

oh and FYI MR FILTH

I mean MR. Ellussive

I bought the car with 28K, I doubt the brakes had been replaced, and even if they were based on standard mileage for replacements they still would be due.

Dude. It just comes down to the fact that you are a filthy Italian who goes to a dealership run by filthy Armenians. Feed them your filthy baked ziti and maybe some pizza and your brakes will be fine for another 30K miles.
