steering wheel not centered

Hi,

This might sound completely anal but recently I noticed that my steering wheel isn't straight when I am driving straight...like it's out of alignment or something. It's not that the car is pulling, it drives straight if I let go of the wheel but the steering wheel is cocked a little bit clockwise.

It seems strange that the car would need an alignment job already since I bought my 2004 325xi at the end of January. I haven't hit any pot holes recently so I'm not sure what the deal is.

if you can tell it off center..then go back to the dealer and have them check it out.

The dealer said my tires weren't inflated properly. They inflated to spec and said it was fixed. Lies! I drove it home and the steering wheel is still off center.

It can be adjusted. MAKE THEM DO IT. The customer is always right. And you are not being anal....the car should be perfect, after all you paid a perfect price!!!!

Oh, and check the tire pressures yourself. Don't trust the bozonian tire guy at the dealership to fill them properly. They may have messed them all up trying to "fix" your problem.

This is not a maintenace item. This is a manufacturing defect. If they question it, offer to do a comparison test with your car vs. one of theirs. I think you will be able to clearly demonstrate it to them.

And be sure to tell them that you have nothing better to do than prove your point to them.....

update - I took it back and they fixed it. Much better now! Boy, that was aggravating.

Typical BS, glad it turned out ok in the end. I brought the car in Thursday and the SA without driving it for the "whine-whirr sound" tells me "theres nothing wrong with the transmission", "thats (jerking and lowering and raising the car when going from P to R and D) normal"... then he puts it in park and its like CRACK!... hes like "oh, well i'll have them look at it...." (on Tuesday and I brought it in on Thursday, I just simply took the car back home) BMW and their team of idiots.
