Still trying to tackle the Bluetooth issue on 2004 330ci Conv.

I have read through a lot of this forum regarding Bluetooth issues and found this all very helpful AND aggravatiing - to have a 2004 330ci Conv with NAV & Assist but not be able to use Bluetooth. Unacceptable.

I have some info that may prove to be helpful to others. I have learned that on '04 models produced after March '04 can use the telematics control unit that is now fitted on the '05 - therefore capable of using both Assist AND BT.

Is this only new news to me? Has anyone tried this yet? If so, I would love to hear about your experience.

Some have successfully installed BT on 04 conv w/ Nav and ditched the assist.
I don't have Nav, but got the BT kit from Bimmernav and am having it installed tomorrow. I am getting rid of assist; I'll take my chances that when I rollover/crash/whatever that someone's around to call the proper folks. Anyway, I'll post my update (hopefully a success story) after it's done. You can search the forum at the top--just put in bluetooth and you will see several threads dealing with this issue. They're all in the E46 3-series forums.

One thing I don't know is if the car BT phone book can have voice dial separate from the phone's phonebook.

For handsfree now, I use the Motorola HS 850 BT headset--works well, although haven't had a lot of top down days yet.
