I'm very new to BMW's. I've been an MB customer for the last couple of years, but I'm coming to BMW in hopes of better quality. In any event, I have the option to purchase a 2002 M3 with 12,000 miles on it. The car is in great condition and it has the SMG transmission. Are there any things I should be looking for when test driving? How have the M3's been with respect to reliability...are they in the shop alot? I'd like everyones impression of the car as well. More importantly, it's going to be a daily driver for me so I'd really like to hear from people who have to drive the car on a daily basis. Anyway, I appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance,
Todd

As much as I love the M3, I would be careful of the '02 models. The engines have a design flaw and may blow. Not every time, but likely. Get all the paperwork on the car. Don't buy unless you can have a full warranty on the car.

Hey ToddPhilly...welcome.
Although you will get some good advice here in the E46 forum, you might get more replies and better advice if you post this in the M3 forum.
Good luck!
