its for the wife... IM KEEPING MY LIGHTNING..... we are trading in the 02 Jeep Liberty...

its a 2000 BMW 328i, 40k miles, silver, sport package w/ rims, leather, sunroof, auto, wood interior trim, etc... its got it all

it also has a Dinan package... not sure what that really is, but its got Dinan exhaust and a Dinan chip in it....

the car is in perfect shape.... not a dent on it

i got dealer down to $19k... kbb.com says a trade in value is $21k... do seems like a good deal...

what do you guys think?? does the Dinan stuff worry ya at all?? the dealer said its the only aftermarket stuff that BMW approves....

anyone know anything about that?? any thoughts??

BMW approves it, but it's technically not under BMW warranty. What happens is that authorized BMW/Dinan dealers will do the work on your car. It's actually Dinan's warranty that replaces any voided BMW warranties. Not all non-Dinan dealers will be so picky about it, but some might... forcing you to find the nearest BMW/Dinan dealer.

Unless you HAVE to have an auto, why not scrape up a few extra dollars and get THIS .

With the special going on, you could get it for 23995, brand new! No way I'd get a 2000 with 40,000 miles for 19 when I could get a 2004 with 10 miles for 24. It may be a stripper, but its a 2.5 liter bmw with full warranty/maintenance.

Nb

Edit - Heres the "special" I was referring to. LINK

It says $30,445 not $23,995. And the Honda Accord suggestion was serious, it's much more economical and reliable than the BMW.

Ok lets go slow this time. In my first response in this thread I linked to this car:

http://www.ebizautos.com/autobahnnew/detail.cfm?iid=337944

29,495 right?

Also in my response I spoke of a special on 325i's, which I kindly provided the link to in my response to you.

http://www.shopautobahn.com/Flash/325iSale.html

5500 off any 325i on the lot, hmmm, now can you figure out where 23,995 came from?

Yes, the Accord probably is more economical and reliable than a Bmw, but its also ZERO fun.

Hahahaha, good catch dzervit. Dinan stuff is typically quite expensive (even overpriced, some say), but their products all seem to be very high quality.

What is all this Ford Lightning business? What's the 0-60 on that bad boy, I see them on the streets once in a while, and they look mad aggressive. Wow, Ford web site says 0-60 in just a bit over 5 seconds, that's pretty damn impressive for a truck.
I like how performance is the new thing in the automotive industry....who would've thought that now you can purchase a pickup truck that will keep up with your average sports car !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd LOVE to have a lightning. It's a part of Ford's SVT (Special Vehicle Team) program. For a tad over 30k you can have a pretty quick truck that can still tow 5,000lbs and handle a bed full of mulch for the little lady's garden. Tack on a few bolt-ons and you've got a machine capable of showing it's taillights to most sports cars. [80?] Many lightning owners have pumped up their trucks and can lay waste to pretty much ANYthing that challenges them. It's a great vehicle! And yeah yeah yeah guys - we can blow 'em away in the twisties, but that's not why you buy a lightning! Be carefull of challenging a Lightning to a street/drag race!!!

THe current lightning has been around for many years, and the next gen lightning is going to be REALLY mean (rumored to have 500+ HP right from the factory). Zioks!!

How's the fuel economy on those things? I bet when when you floor it, you see the tachometer going up while you see the fuel meter going down. That's my problem with these huge sport trucks....they're awesome and when you drive them around normally, they deliver okay gas mileage. But when you race someone, those huge engines absolutely gobble the gas.

Bone stock is 13-16MPG. Not horrible, but it sure as heck isn't a Prius! Even with a few mods, a lead foot and a lot of stop & go racing I'd still expect 12MPG out of it. That's only 3-4MPG less that what I get now with my new F-150.

12 MPG!!!!! Thats better than what my 2.5 gets in the city...

With stop and go racing I'd expect less than 10mpg w/ the 325i...
