I am thinking about purchasing an 03 330i manual transmission with 57,500 miles. Seems like the car is in good condition and has been well maintained.

I am looking for any input or guidance on maintenance or reliability issues with this auto.

I've had my '01 330CI (Manual trans) for about a year now and not a single problem. Actually this is my second BMW. I had a '92 325I (Auto Trans) with 196,000 on it and original tranny without never having a single Engine Problem . Personally, i'll would say go for it.
Good luck.

i had a 2003 330i and just traded it in for an M3. the 330i was an absolutely incredible car and i miss it everyday (so i just go drive my M3). get it, you won't regret it. i traded mine in at 30,000 miles, and she felt like she was still breaking in. yours has a lot of juice left in it.

I know people would instantly say "yes" right off the bat... but it really all depends on what you're looking for. The slight differences in body style aren't worth the extra cash, and in my opinion the performance isn't necessarily worth the cash by itself either. The advantage of a 330 is that you can push the car close to its limits, and you're not breaking the law (too badly). The M3, on the other hand, is basically a street-legal race car. You really can't push it to its limits without doing something which would get you a pretty crappy ticket (or arrested). Is it fun? Yeah, its incredible... blows my mind everytime I drive it. It's worth the extra money TO ME, because the styling, performance, and most importantly the feeling I get when I drive it, all add up together to make it worth the extra cash (and A LOT of it at that).

Just keep in mind... I'm paying almost twice for the M3 what I paid for the 330 (but that includes the upgraded service packages and some extras). It's not "just a little extra"... oh, but to be honest, the insurance hit is negligible, at least with my company.

Thanks for the details. When I was buying in 2003, I think the M3 was
about $10K more (around $47,000 or so).

But you have a convertible, right? There's a big price jump with the drop top.

Sounds like the car is a blast to drive, enjoy!

Yeah, don't be mistaken about the price difference between an M3 and 330i. The price difference is actually incredible. I got my 2003 330i for just under 37k. Let's put it this way, when all was said and done with the M3 (with sales tax in WA, the 3M coating, upgraded service and warranty) it was mid 70's. Yep, it starts at 56k, but it will quickly go up, before you even know it.

Not sure if you bought the car or not. I have an 03 330 and the only thing I miss is that the 04's came with the 6 speed. I'd love to have that extra gear but I'm happy with my purchase. Just a FYI...
