Hi - first post here on bmwboard. Looking for some feedback on possible purchase. I am looking at a used car at a dealer here in San Francisco - wondering what you guys and girls think of the deal, I also don't know much about the Sport Package and Extended Warrenty.

2005
19K miles
Automatic
Premium Package
Sport Package
Harmon Kardon Upgrade
Silver on Black
Sales guy said the first owner purchased the extended service and maintance warrenty to 100K or 2011. He said it covers everything on the car except gas and tires.

They are asking $28,500 for the car - anyone that has this car or knows about extended warrenty and if this is a good deal, I would love feedback.

Thanks

It sounds like a reasonable price for the age/mileage, assuming the paint and interior is clean.

As far as warranty/maintenance goes, I think you need to see the exact paperwork, talk to a BMW dealer (it sounds like this is not a BMW dealer you are buying from?). BMW has some exclusions on their extended programs. From what I have read, the extension DOES NOT cover everything except gas and tires. Also, be sure that both are transferable. Notice that the BMW Web Site says "Original Owner"

"Original owners can also extend their contracts.
If you’re the original owner of your BMW, you can extend your service contract for up to 6 years or 100,000 miles for coverage of mechanical breakdowns.

If your BMW requires service that is covered under warranty, simply schedule an appointment with an authorized BMW center where a specially trained, BMW certified technician will make the repairs using original BMW parts. This will guarantee that your vehicle will be repaired to meet our specifications and you can be confident that your BMW will be just as thrilling to drive after a repair, as it was before.

For complete information on coverage and limitations, see your authorized BMW center or refer to your Owner’s Manual."

That 28,500 figure is a little high for an old model 325i... I'd try and push them down to 26-27k. I could have purchased a brand new 05 325i last year for close to that price (28k) when the dealers were trying to clear inventory. I have an 04' 330i and if I were to sell I'd be asking for 28k and I have under 25k miles. These Cali dealers really are stealers...

I think when he says its covering everything besides tires and gas, he's referring to the original carry over warranty which expires in late 2008 or early 2009 probably. Then the CPO warranty which has its limits comes in.
