tint - dot matrix problem

I got my tint (limo) done and I don't like the way it turned out in rear window. It looks messy and uneven along the bottom line. The guy basically said there's nothing else he can do b/c those dots have to be pushed down hard for long time (for film to stick all the way) but he can't do it cuz it's very hard to reach (I have 04 coupe). So unless I take the entire window out and do it all over again this is the best I'll have. And it'll cost a lot more. I paid $130 for mine. He said all 3-Series coupes have the same problem. Anyone else has this problem? Thoughts?

I've only heard of a couple of suggestions to this issue...
1. Glue the tint around the matrix dots (that'll be a bear when it's time to replace)
2. Trim the tint around the area where it starts to peel up.
3. Use black paint all around the matrix dots.

I left mine the way you described yours looking. I havent heard or seen a better solution yet.

There are ways to make it stick to the dots - I just got my car done and it looks great all around. Check out some tint forums/info about this - http://www.tintdude.com - there are tricks on how to do this properly (which I remember being concerned about, but my installer assured me), but I didn't install my tint. Good luck finding someone who can fix this for you.

Hmmmm....

I just got my tint job the on Tuesday and it turned out nicely. I also heard about the dots and how they can be stubborn to put tint on. The place I took it to has been in the business for around 15 years and they had no problem. I will ask them tomorrow what their experience has been dealing with this and reply tomorrow.

dumayou -

Huper Optik - looks like high end mettalic tint, but doesn't have the side effects (looks cleaner, XM and AM radio still work), but its more expensive. This is purely my opinion, but I have done a ton of research for my own car......

Got an appointment next Thursday. Hope it's as good as it sounds. Still haven't decided whether to let them do the front two windows or to use V-Kool on them. Sorta don't feel like the hassle of making another appointment, but V-Kool's performance sounds so much better for the lighter shades.

V-Kool does have better performance...but I really didn't like the way it looked on the outside. I saw two other cars while I was there that had V-Kool on the front windows and it just didn't look as nice....reflection on the window looked fake, not as cool coloring, etc. Once I saw it, it solidified me going with all huper and haven't looked back.
