Tint removal

Howdy

I was thinking some of you california BMW enthusiasts...I think there must be atleast a few of ya out there.... ...I thought you guys might be able to help me out with this

I currently live in Florida...my car is going to arrive within the next few days, and the dealer contracts with this dude who will do the complete window tinting job for $135.oo

the issue is that in about a year from now I will probably move to California...where window tinting is illegal on the front windows.

I was thinking I could go ahead and tint front and back windows and if it is not a problem...I could have the front window tint removed if and when I move back to cali


or should I just hold off on tinting the front until I know

Dont worry about it before you move to California, and actually u don't have to worry about it even after you move to here.

I have been driving cars with all-around tinting for more than 4 years, never get a ticket or get pulled over for that.

take it off IF you get a ticket here. I had tint for the longest time. As long as I opened my windows before the cop reached my window (whenever I got pulled over or sometimes if I see them on the street), then they never gave me a ticket. I only got a tint ticket in the middle of California somewhere cuz the stupid cop couldn't get me for speeding (thank you V1) so she had to write me up for something.

Most luxury cars in SoCal have tint on the front windows. Cops usually bother the cheaper cars like my beater Civic.

Don't worry about it until you get out here and get stopped. I drove my last car for over 5 years before I got pulled for the tint. And then the cops only gave you a fix it ticket. I had to remove the tint on my front windows and have a cop sign the ticket and mail it in. Then you replace the tint and drive until you get another one. My 2001 325Ci is tinted all the way around, even about 8 to 10 inches on the front windshield and they have yet to even give me a second look. I even passed a cop as I drove away from the tint shop. The cop just looked at me and smiled. I guess he thought it looked good.

Yeah man, I got limo tint on my beemer, and nobody has said anythign and you guys know me... i've been pulled over like 10 times

I plan to get my car tomorrow or monday....with a very dark tint on front and back

I actually got a ticket for having a front tint. And I even rolled down the two front windows longs before he pulled me over! So I had to take the tint off for the fix-it-ticket. I dont remember what i used but it was some type of solvent and a razor blade and I took the tint off with no problem. I havent put the tint back on the front yet, but if i decide to itll be cheap bc id only have to do two windows. Generally though I wouldnt worry about it too much. With that said though i wouldnt reccomend a limo tint. Its just too noticeable and you will get pulled over quicker. Cops are dicks I would just get something chill that add style to the car but doesnt make looking through the window like staring into a black light consuming abyss. Happy Tinting!

justdrive, get your windows tinted definitely. It is worth the money and you will appreciate the tinted windows every time you drive yoru car (I know I do). And if you do decide to remove your tints, the place that did your tints should be able to remove for like $20 (or maybe even for free). Go for it !!
