Has anyone out there tried changing their own tire.....I have a 330ci Convert, with 18' M wheels..had a flat yesterday and went to change the tire and the damn thing won't come off. Am I stupid? I changed my own tires before with other cars. What am I doing wrong?

Any tips would be great....other than calling BMW service..which is my next plan.

How won't it come off? Are the lugnuts stuck or is the tire just not able to be pulled off?

I'm guessing it's my second question. I believe you can take a mallet or something and hit the tire until it gets loose....something weird like that. This question has come up once before and was answered by a few members with a proper technique to it. I'm sure the same members will be able to help out again.

There is something different about the M wheels and how to mount tires to them. When I called an installer to drop ship my TireRack delivery to, they were quite adverse to mounting on M wheels. (Luckily ?) my 17"ers are not M wheels.

Flat tire changing is included free of charge with your BMW Roadside Assistance, if you want to let some tow truck driving weenie touch your car.

The wheels SHOULD come right off as your car is so new it isn't likely (but possible) that corrosion has frozen it on there already. I guess your Santa Monica location could be exposing you to a lot of salty air?

Like the guys said, a good swift kick or pound it with a rubber mallet should get it off there.

BMW Wheel are "hub centric", meaning that they center themselves on the hub and are therefore a tight fit. I use a little antiseize on hubs when I change my wheels. It seems to work, but once in a while you get one that needs a good swift kick!
