I will need to purchase new tires soon, I have Bridgestone on the car now, which are the tires that came on the car new. I have 19600 miles on the car I might be able to get 3k more mile out of them, however I noticed the other day when going into a turn fast I was sliding a little.
I have liked the tires for both ride and noise level, but I don't have anything to compare that to.
Can you please give me some suggestion on what tires you have like or have put on your cars.

Check out the Tire Rack and Discount Tire on line, they both have a lot of information on performance tires and options for you and your car. I have used Michelin's, Toyo's, Kuhmos and Yokohama tires. The one I prefer is the Toyo Proxes, mid priced high performance. The Kuhmos are the least expensive and are a good all around street tire. I will admit that Bridgestones are a fine tire as well. Look at some of the reviews on the tire sites and decide what is most important to you, performance, wear, noise, etc. Best of luck.

I too recommend Tire Rack's web site as a repository for consideration based
on my experience. I have no ties to Tire Rack.

My situation was:
1. '03 325i with 33K miles in Nov/Dec 2005 with worn Continental TouringContacts that I felt were approaching unsafe to drive in Chicago weather.
2. I searched the web for tire info. There were a few somewhat comprehensive
sites, of which, Tire Rack was one.
3. I decided that I wanted to try tires that handled better in wet, dry and snow than my original tires.

Decision
1. While I originally wanted to try Continental Extreme Contacts since they appeared to review well and be reasonably priced, they were back ordered
for over one month at many places that I called.
2. I decided to go for the Pirelli P Zero Nero tires. I ordered them from Tire Rack
and they were shipped within one week even though they were clearly
very busy.

My experience
1. Between Dec '05 and March '06, I've logged more than 2K miles on them.
2. They are very quiet compared to the original OEM tires; this is consistent with the Tire Rack reviews.
3. They appear to handle very well in the wet, dry, and the Chicago snow that we've had this year. On the other hand, the tires are pretty new and should handle better than my old tires.

In short, at this point, I'm not disappointed and the Tire Rack site results seem consistent with my experience to date.

Best of luck in your tire search.

[thumb] I too like TireRack, however last I checked they don't carry the Toyo Proxes 4's. I've got 190,000 which means I've been through a couple of brands. The Ultra High Preformance All Season radial brands I like best are Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S, Toyo Proxes 4 M&S and MasterCraft HP M&S I've gotten almost 50,000 miles per set of tires with routine rotations and four wheel alignments. Just my two and a half cents. Happy Mooring...[driving2]

Toyo Proxes rock, I got into these after my last set of Pzero Nero M&S's (Very good longevity tires - but I wanted something more aggressive). Toyo Proxes 4 are hot tires right now for summer/street - they are quiet and stand to last their promised 30k. (My Pzero's made 26k, short their 30k promise but I'm mean to my tread).

Do you just want to replace what BMW put on, or do you want improved performance, or maybe improved comfort/noise level?

I have PZero Nero M&S on the325, factory stock Goodyear Eagle RS on the 330. The Pirellis are a much better tire. They are wearing a bit faster than I would prefer, but a GREAT tire.

Thanks for all your input.
I can't understand why the Bridgestone I have on my car now, look like they may only get 3k more miles. I don't want to keep them that long due to the fact the car is sliding a little already.
