Fellas,

I've running all-seasons (225s) on my 17' star spoke #44s for the past couple of years. I used to run summers on them and I used my old stock 16s for winters. I'm going to be returning to this setup. Anyway, my question is do you think I can stretch a set of 235s in the rear?? A friend of mine who used to work at TireRack said that this is possible and common, but I'm not sure. Anybody else ever heard of this? I know it'd be more of a pain with rotating, but I'm really worried about that anymore.

Also, does anybody have any recommendations as far as actual tires are concerned? I'm thinking about either Continental ContiSports or Goodrich F1 Eagles???

You can easily go with 235's in the rear, just make sure you choose the proper sidewall height so maintain the closest overall wheel diameter as the 225 tires you have on now.

Goodyear Eagle F1's are supposed to be amazing.

So I guess that would mean a 40mm sidewall?

Optional on the E46 330 and std with the ZHP option are 255-35-18 on the rear with 225-40=18 on the front so you should not have a problem fitting 235-17s, just match the overall diameter properly.

Going with a staggered setup will increase the car's tendency to understeer unless you play with the tire pressures some. But if you rarely drive at the limit, no big deal. Let us know how it turns out.

I'm not sure if they still make them, but my Bridgestone Potenza RE750's are really nice. They do wear pretty quickly but traction and noise is superb. I have 255/40 R17 in the rear.
