Tire pressure guage

Accuracy isn't as important as consistency. I run a chalk line across the width of the tire tread and roll ahead a few feet, checking the chalk line for wear. adding or letting out air about 1 or 2 lbs at a time. Rechalk and roll ahead again until I get the wear pattern I'm looking for. I then take my tire pressure for the records. Now as long as I continue using the same guage I'm always good to go.

My GOD. All you guys are completely over the top. Come back.

It's a freakin' tire pressure guage! Just about any one will do.

The chalk method!?!?

I picked up a digital model at Sears for $10.00

It's accurate to a tenth of a pound, so the readout says 36.2 PSI for example.

It's small, about the size of a pen, so I keep it in the glove box to fill the tires if necessary while getting gas.

What? For making two posts, one with a link and one with a price?

I guess you do not realize how important tire pressure is? Do you have any idea how many accidents are related to tire pressure? How about wear? Traction? Oh well, keep running on your under inflated, mismatched Goodwill bought tires![hihi]

I find it strange that BMW did not include a tire gauge in the tool set in the trunk. Of all the tools that I will never use, I might of used a tire gauge.[fake] [fake]

That's probably because BMW doesn't want you using the tools, I've heard that they break easily and are of poor quality??? Perhaps more for show than use...

the more i read about it, the more i realize how important tires are. remember it's the only thing keeping you on the road.

i have the accutire gauge linked above, but paid $20 for it. now it's cheaper [:(]prolly one of the best investments i made. altho i wish they were a bit more accurate than .5 psi incriments. weekly or biweekly checking is a pia but wth, it's for my driving pleasure [hihi]

The tools I have in the trunk are really really cheap. If they wouldn't come with BMW cars and were sold at a hardware store, youd probably get the whole set for less than 5 bucks. I wouldn't pay 99cents for the Channel Locks (if you can even call it that) they include. I used the Channel Locks for one thing, disconnecting a hose and had problems doing that because of the poor quality. I bet they put the tools there just to keep that idea of BMW being an enthusiast's car.

They needed to make something out of the scrap metal after cutting out the body parts, and I give them credit for the creativity.[thumb]
