Have a 2003 330i performance package. Need new summer tires and thinking about a set of Michelin PS2’s. Current staggered tire sizes are front P225 40 18 and rear P255 35 18. Can anyone tell me if bumping the size to front P235 40 18 and rear P265 35 18 will fit. Been to a couple of tire shops and they claim this size will not fit. Any advice is appreciated.

If you change to the sizes you are mentioing you are increasing the diameter of the tire which can affect your speedometer and DSC/ASC. I changed in that fashion on my 97 Z3 once and my ASC light kept going off in corners and had to switch back. If you want to "plus" size you need to select a size that maintains the diameter of the stock tire. Check with The Tire Rack or Discount Tire, they offer plus sizing.
If you went 235 35 in the front and 265 30 in the back you're ok - this will keep your diameter close enough to original that you don't need to change your odometer.
However, 265 in the back might require a fender roll, especially so if you have the sports package suspension. Otherwise you might rub - that's nice n wide!![[:)]](/images/smilies/smile.png "Smile [:)]")
I don't think you'd really notice much of a difference going just a sliver wider - more likely you'll notice the difference of new tires versus old before you'd notice a few more mm's on the hardtop at that size tire on our cars.
