Hey guys. I'm looking to upgrade to 18 inch wheels. But not really sure about what tire size I want to have. I'm looking at 2 sizes -- 215/40R18 or 225/40R18. Are there advantages/disadvantages with each one? Which one would look better with my car? My car is an 02 325xi.

One other thing, I want to know your opinion on this one - Ebay wheels

Cheers! [cheers]

The 215 size you note should be a 215/45, those are the correct plus sizes for you are and should keep everything in spec as far as diameters/heights etc. The negatives to an eighteen in wheel is that tires usually cost more and they are more susceptible to damage due to the lower profile.

Don't know anything about the wheels, I get really concerned with unkown aftermarket due to BMW's hub-centric design and it being very touchy.

Tire size

For the tire size, I came up with 215/40R18 by using the tire size calculator. It seems that the circumference of 215/40R18 is much closer than 215/45R18 when compare to the OEM tires which is 205/55R16.

BTW, where do you see the 215/45R18 spec?

18" Wheels

I JUST finished putting a set of 8" x 18" BMW M double spoke 67 wheels on my 2002 330xi.

The tires are 224/45 ZR 18 which is what the wheels called for. They look great and fit perfectly. Dealer and tire store advised me not to go with staggered fitment due to the AWD.

Wheel installation shop also warned me about buying on E-Bay. I ended up taking the price from BMW Wheels (online) and the local Kansas City BMW dealer matched the price.
