Okay, this is probably a dumb question.

My 05 330CIC has different sized tires on the front and rear. Also, the tires are directional. So... how do you rotate these tires? You can't do the usual diagonal swap because then the wrong sizes end up on the front and rear. You can't swap left with right because then the tires are spinning in the wrong direction. So... do you just never rotate the tires?

Yes, that is corerct. In your car's setup, there is no rotation. Just curious, what tires is on your vehicle now?

Big D..........If you don't me asking, whats the reason BMW give for not rotating tires. I've never heard of that before, but I never owned a BMW unti my first one in 2003, which by the way, I have never rotated those tires and I have aabout 28K on them.

The main reason is that when a tire is broken in it becomes suited to the position on the car it is in. When you rotate the tires you upset the balance of the car until the tire new to that position breaks into the new position thereby losing some handling characteristics. The other reason is that with directional tires and a staggered setup, most performance cars will have this, you simply cannot.

My X5 has the same tires/wheels front and rear.....and BMW recommends NOT rotating the tires. I am sure for the first reason Big D mentioned.

Shows that I have never owned a car with perfromance tires. [:)] It never occurred to me that you wouldn't rotate the tires. AND... I was surprised when I found out that I had different sized tires on the front vs. rear. Can't really tell the difference at all just looking at them.
