Tire Wear

i have a 2001 330 with a sport/performance package, including 225/45R17 on the front and 245/40R17 on the back. All four tires have ample tread on them but have cupped badly. I've replaced them and had the alignment checked and adjusted (slightly) to standard BMW specs. Question is, why did my tires wear so abnormally? Do i need to alter the alignment for local driving?

Just a suggestion, but keep an eye on the tyre pressure, if they're underinflated they will eventually warp, especially under harder driving and emergency braking scenarios.

Low tire pressure will cause your tires to have premature wear on the outside of the tires, especially when driven hard through corners like almost all BMWs are. Cupping is caused by improperly aligned wheels.
