How important do you feel about having or not having a Moon Roof? [???1]

Of all the cars I've owned not one had a MR. I've been in cars with MRs and thought they were nice. [:)] When I order my car it will be an option to think about.

How do you feel about it. I am also aware of the sun shade clips breaking too.

I ordered a moonroof on my 325XI and absolutely love it. I've had moonroofs or sunroofs on my last 4 cars, and would never buy a car without it unless I absolutely had to. It's the closest thing to a convertible without having one.

Believe me, if you don't order one, you will absolutely KILL your resale, especially in a Bimmer. (I tell you this from experience)
MR and leather seem to be the key options to have if resale value is important.

Of course you should get a moonroof. I've had a car without a moonroof for ten years. Back in 1995 when bought my Camry without a moonroof, I thought I didn't need one. When I got my 330i there was no way I was going to be stupid enough to get the car without leather or a moonroof.

Unfortunately, that's true. I'd normally say don't get one cuz the BMW one sucks in terms of reliability. But.... you'll constantly be asked why it doesn't have a moonroof.

I rarely open mine because I don't like the wind noise, but I still love it, and wouldn't get a car without it. Gives the car a much brighter, open feeling.

When I bought my Grand Am, I thought that it was nice that it had a moon roof but had it been my choice, I would not have spent the money on it. Now that I have had one, I couldn't get my next car (the bimmer) without one. I use it all the time and it is well worth the extra cost on any car to get it. You won't be sorry.

It's a must have. Like many above/before me have stated. It adds great light when shade is open/but roof closed. And I love natural open air whenever it is not to hot or humid to go with no AC. Nothing like a nice cool evening with the roof open if you don't have convertible. I will never own a car without a moonroof.

It is a must for a BMW. I don't know the actual statistics, but I would bet >99% of new BMWs are bought with a moonroof. That means BMWs are pretty much synonomous with moonroofs. I have also heard of this synonym-ism for many many years.

get a moonroof

This might sound funny but it's true if you're a smoker.
If it's cold out or really windy and you don't wanna open the windows its a great place to ash your cigarette ;)

When we hit 120 on the highway in my friend's 330Ci open windows will be kinda messy, and the MR reflector keeps the wind from making that annoying noise so it's perfect ;)

But again if you don't smoke that's not an issue

Moonroof is key! It's a pretty small car, can get claustophobic in there...I love popping the moonroof and people always say the jagged wind deflector is cool. Honestly, next to the xenon headlights, the moon roof is a must have.

I'll admit, you will have some maintenance. Going on 6 years this fall here and my rubber seal around the edge is getting worn...the stealership wanted something crazy like $150 (don't quote me) for a new rubber/felt deal. I'm gonna look around before going forward on that maintenance....probably something i can do myself as a project if i can find the part at a reasonable price.
