The A4 1.8T + automatic transmission is slow as balls (I don't know how Tom's is configured, though). The only way I'd get an A4 1.8TQ is with a 5-speed manual and I'd HAVE to put in a chip, air intake, and exhaust system.

Quattro ads too much weight for the little 1.8TA. I agree, it has to be a row machine with a chip at least.

Quattro rapes all of Audi's cars. It's a great AWD system, but it weighs approximately 300lbs and gives the engine more effort. Those two factors really destroy the acceleration of Audi's vehicles. If you look at Audi's web site and their 0-60 times, you'll realize that their cars should be a lot faster than they are. I'm not against Quattro, I actually love the system, I just wish Audi lightened it up or did something to make it better. Subaru's AWD system seems much more efficient.
