Is it true that if one waits until their car has more than 50000-60000 miles on it to trade it in that it's trade-in value is significantly reduced (below that in the Blue Book) because the BMW dealer cannot CPO it?

I dont know how bmw does their CPO but I have a feeling you would get more for your car selling it privately than back to the dealer.
Of course! Thanks for taking the time, but that's not really what I was looking for.

I've seen CPOs with more than 50,000 miles. I don't think it matters as long as the car meets all their criteria, and I don't believe mileage is one of those criteria.

But yea, sell it privately.

Sorry but what do you think? They'll pay just as much for a 50,000+ mile car as they would for one under 50k?

No ... pick a mileage ... say 70,000. I am saying that whatever the wholesale value of the car is for 70,000 miles at that age ... I was told that they will actually take significantly more off the wholesale value because it is worth less to them, because it cannot be CPOed above 60,000 miles.

Oh ok, that makes sense. Pluse it'll be to the point they'll offer you so little it wouldn't be worth getting rid of the car.
