Well it happened yesterday. My parents traded in my 2001 330ci for a clk500. I was unaware of the deal and I just came home with my car gone and they told me. I am really happy but I am going to miss my first car A LOT!!!! I hope I like the clk. The BMW was an awesome car to me and I am going to miss it a lot! I will still be up here reading about BMW's all the time because they are my all time favorite. I want to hear everyone's comments about it, so let me know, good or bad! Thanks

Yeah, that is my biggest fear is the handling. My mom has a 2000 E class with 4matic and it does decently around turns. That is awd for ya, but I will always still be a hardcore BMW fan and will admire everyone that graces my presence on the road. I think what I am going to like a lot more about the Benz is the power, 302 hp is pretty nice. But still it ain't no BMW!! I will be back in the future....

Although I'm probably older (56) than your parents, you could mention to them that I'm available for adoption, just in case you want an older brother. [:)]

sell the car, take the money, and buy lots of beer to "study" with. to tool around campus, buy a bike and ride to class. you'll save a hell of a lot of money on those campus parking tickets.
then, if you absolutely have to have a car to take out on weekends, buy some big ass beater of a car or van. it's not what kind of car you drive, it's how many of your buddies, and girls, you can cart around......mainly the second.

Haha, I know, I have a knot in my stomach about what
people are going to say to me at college....ne ideas
on what I should do?
Guys will hate it, chicks will dig it.

Honestly, though, parents should not be buying their kids brand new BMWs
and Mercedes, that's something young people should strive for, a goal to
achieve, no?

If I was 20 years old, I would disagree on a personal level, but I think the
above is an honest take.

Anyway, best of luck with the new ride, and try not to take it for granted. [thumb]

Congrats on the new ride! Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you planning to trade in that 2001 330Ci for an E46 M3? Don't get me wrong, I love Mercedes and they are great cars and they have been around me my whole life (my parents are MB whores), but as a 19-20 year old, I would definitely take the E46 M3 over the CLK500. In any case, the CLK500 is really good for cruising around and stuff...share some pictures with us!

Hey LoMo987!! Congrats, but you will miss your Bimmer. After 15 Benzes we now have 3 new BMWs, and cannot imagine going back to the star. The CLK is slick though, so you should enjoy it. Why would they trade your ci without you knowing???

A little advice....be so careful with the Ash interior. I very recently traded my 2003 E-Class for my 2004 330cic. My E had Ash...you must clean it weekly, and be careful entering and exiting the car...one light touch of a shoe marks the cloth that is on the door sills, carpets, where the pedals are, etc.. Just be careful...no joke... Ash interior is a full time job cleaning!!!

Anyway Good Luck, and enjoy the 302 hp [:D]

I say build their character, give them the car, tell them to concentrate on their future and work hard to own a top of the line Ferrari. After purchasing villas in Italy and Portugal. [thumb]

Congrats on the car LoMo987, enjoy. [cheers]

The new CLK is a chick's car. A
car, but still a girly looking car.

But damn, that's a nice surprise. Wish my parents would do something like that for me. Course, my dad works his ass off for me and my family so I can't exactly complain.

And Merc autos don't suck. They're just not as fun as a stickshift... well, a BMW stickshift. Not all stickshifts are equally made. They're really smooth tho. One of the best autos.

Congrats on the new whip. Enjoy it and be thankful you have parents that can afford to give you such a nice car. I can't wait to have kids so I can spoil them.

I just traded my 2002 CLK 430 for a 2004 330CIC, "I bought them both myself" I think that the BMW is a much better driving car than the Benz, The quality of the BMW is also much better. If you are good, maybe mom and dad will buy you another BMW in a few years.
