A date that I picked based on the fact that I had heard of:

1. Tranny replacements in the Oct/Nov timeframe that were not successful in resolving the problem.
2. The fact that I had also been told that BMW really didn't have a handle on the problem until December.

Still not sure they really have a handle on it based on more recent info.
