Does Anybodies 2004 325 transmission oil make a lot of noise after you drive for a while stop the car and start to hear the trans oil crackel down loud?
Never heard as loud on other car ? Answer?

I agree, the exhaust should be the only thing you hear while the car is cooling off, esp after "spirited" driving [thumb]. The transmission shouldn't be making those noises.

i guess it must be the exhaust then, it sounds like the oil is hitting the bottom pan , like the sound the negine makes when you turn it off. you hear the oil coming down hitting the pan crakling

I have never heard this noise (oil noise). I have never really listened for it specifically either.

Isn't the exhaust "crackling" really the ceramic in the cat(s) contracting as it cools? I think that is why it does it more if you have been revving the engine a lot and then shut it down, the cat is just that much hotter?
