I am thinking of installing a Crimestopper Remote Start. It was a very good set taken out from my previous Merc. The installer said he has to remove the transponder in my key (BMW 4dr sedan) and wire-tie it near the ignition permanently. By doing this, it means that the transponder is 'on' 24 hours a day. Is this going to damage the transponder after a few years (months?)? What other consequences must I consider. My car is currently protected by BMW original alarm system.
